wrapping.

The kids go to The Children's Shop every year, an event through our parks and rec department. It is a wonderful event where crafters and shops set up a little booth and mark all of their wares $8 and under and children can wander from booth to booth and shop for everyone on their list. There is even a parent waiting area with coffee and cookies so the children can shop in secret.

Parks and Everly shop for all four of their grandparents and each other. We've been doing this since before they could walk, so this year seemed pretty easy compared to years past. I also noticed that the kids are developing their giving hearts and really put some thought into their presents this year. Puzzles for the grandpa they play a lot of games with, lip balm for the grandpa always searching for his chapstick, a vase for the grandma who enjoys fresh flowers, and a bird necklace for our nature-loving other grandma. Their gifts to each other will be a big surprise under the tree on Christmas morning, and I loved that this year they both noticed the twinkle in the other's eye that lit up when they saw something they liked. And each of them quietly sneaked back to that booth and secretly got the coveted item.

They lovingly wrapped their gifts this year. Everly with a little help and a lot of tape. And Parks, the boy growing in inches and maturity every day set about cutting his own wrapping paper, taping, writing gift tags and attaching a bow. He was determined to complete his presents from beginning to end by himself. And he did.
