It's been a long time since we've been on a date. With our schedules we are blessed with very little babysitter needs, but that often means we are two ships in the night, passing each other with post-it notes and texts telling one another about our days. We are also blessed to have had what feels like a lot of family time lately (three weekends in a row!) from Jeremy working so hard and pulling a lot of 48 hour shifts. We've made so many wonderful memories this year in 2013, and it's only been a month! But the other day we looked at each other and realized we haven't spent any time with just 'us' - away from the craziness of life and schedules and two sick kids and work and volunteering, and, and and, the list goes on forever. So, yesterday we took the train up to Vancouver. We put one in school and dropped off the other at the grandparents and then we caught a train with coffees and books in hand. We chatted, we looked at the view and we laughed. This guy still makes me laugh so hard after 15 years. We arrived in the early afternoon and spent our few hours hanging out on Granville Island. Then we caught the lumbering train back. We remarked about how slow and easy the day was. No excitement. No rushing. No craziness. A lot of slow wandering and holding hands. It was the perfect refresh.
