A magical weekend . Part 4

So, Jer is back at work. Yes, that's 72 hours in 4 days. Poor guy. I could laze around all day and wish he was home again, but instead we rode the Plover over to Semi Ah Moo to get a little beach walking in and grab some lunch with grandma and grandpa. I LOVE riding the Plover in the summer. It's the perfect afternoon.

A magical weekend . Part 3

Twas a rainy, summer Saturday. So we headed out to the library to make fairy houses, but made a calculating error so we ended up getting hot cocoas and muffins and delving into the first few chapters of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe at the top of a bookstore, overlooking the rainy waterfront and islands behind. It was a perfect error.

From there we went to the nursery so I could pick up some dripping flowers (the best kind) and the kids fed the chickens. And the sheep, the guinea pigs and the rabbits...because they're charmers.

Then we headed off to a rainy hike. We had intended to take a quick walk/hike but then the skies opened up and it poured on us and contrary to what you'd think, that made the hike oh so much longer and oh so much better. Because of frogs and salamanders. The kids were in creature heaven. In addition to running around and naming all the flora and fauna they know.

A magical weekend . Part 2

Without Jer on Friday, we filled our day with fun. Swimming lessons, a trip to the homeschool store to get summer school bridging (shockingly, a big hit), the craft store for some re-supplies, and then a painting class. I knew they'd like it, but the magnitude was a surprise. Evie kept grabbing my face and give me extra kisses because "you earned them for bringing me to my favorite place I just found out I love!" and Parker kept leaning over and whispering "This is amazing" and "I love it" and the best, sincerest, simple "Thank you. Lots."  And?! I am in love with their creations. LOVE.

A magical weekend . Part 1

I went full throttle into our weekend because we have had to work some LONG days after getting back from our trip and after spending every minute together for nearly a month, I was desperate for some family time.

On Thursday we high-tailed it south to see Britt and Family and play in their yard and reunite after far too much time apart. Jer left Wednesday for work so we were supposed to see him again on Friday, but he called while we were at Britt's to say he had to stay on until Saturday. Well, perfect. We were only 20 minutes away, so we drove down to see him at the station before making the long (and late) trek home. :)

You never know how hot you truly are until you use an infra-red heat sensor to tell you your exact skin temperature.

The ladder walk. Always a big hit. And a bit dicey.

Day 21 . Nearing the end...

We jam packed this day! Mostly to distract ourselves and make sure it was an awesome last full day, and a little to fit it all in. :)

We started out poolside at our condo.

Then we rented kyaks and explored the lagoon a little.

Parks got in upon seeing all the turtles in the lagoon and snorkeled around a bit. He was over the moon when three turtles snorkeled with him! Two came up on either side of him and one went right underneath him, so close it actually brushed against him! This made his snorkeling experience :)

Then Evie was trailing her hand in the water outside the boat and this sweet little guy actually swam to the surface and rubbed his head and shell against her hand. Oh my goodness!

We spotted a cool eel in the lagoon.
Then we spotted sharks!! Oh my :) They were in a lagoon under the restaurant.
Which made Parker's day. Again.
We ate lunch next to the dolphin training center and watched them jump and swim and play. So cool!!

Then we headed over to one of the other pools for some afternoon swimming.

Since we didn't want to dread our last night on vacation we made a reservation at Lava Lava to eat dinner on the beach with our toes in the sand. It was awesome. We totally forgot about leaving the next day while we sipped our fun drinks, the kids played in the sand, we listened to the music, the sun set in front of us and a hula dancer entertained. Awesome.

The perfect last night!
